Review Summary
Groove Silicon Rings
Don’t get me wrong, I adore my engagement wedding band set. It is beautiful, simple, elegant, and most importantly it was passed down in my husbands family from his grandmother. So you might be thinking, why on earth would I want a silicon wedding ring?Well, I absolutely treasure my engagement ring and wedding band, but too often my biggest concern is keeping it safe. My husband and I lead a very active lifestyle. We spend a good chunk of our time traveling,  in the ocean, and exploring the great outdoors. Between our favorite pastimes of surfing, paddle boarding, backpacking, hiking, and climbing, we both needed a safe and comfortable alternative. The last thing we wanted was scratch up and damage our wedding rings while hiking, cave exploring, or some other crazy adventure!
Before we started wearing silicon rings, when we were doing something where we feel like we are putting our traditional rings at risk, we would take them off to store them. There have been more than enough times where one of us has misplaced our rings! In this review, I will go over silicon ring basics, share my experience, show you how to get the right size, and overall hopefully help you get a feeling on whether silicon rings are the right choice for you!
What is the Groove Ring?
I only recently heard about silicon wedding bands as an alternative to traditional wedding bands. Groove Life is a brand that manufactures silicon rings and wedding bands that are breathable and stylish for both men and women. There are so many reasons to switch to silicon rings even if it for short periods of time (like on vacation, or if you are planning on doing an activity that would otherwise put your hands at risk or potentially damage your ring). Silicon rings are worn for a wide variety of reasons. They are beneficial for people with careers or hobbies that would otherwise put your hands at risk if you were to wear a traditional metal ring.
‍Athletes and Gym Goers - While many everyday athletes prefer the comfort and flexibility of silicon rings, people who go to the gym also find these features beneficial. Yoga, workouts, and weightlifting are all a better experience with a ring that is flexible, soft, and comfortable.
‍Massage Therapists, Estheticians, and Physical Therapists: If you are in this line of work, you no longer have to remember to remove your wedding ring or about the ring scratching your patient as it slides around. And you also don't have to worry about getting products and chemicals stuck in your ring band.
‍Electricians: Being around electrical wires is even more dangerous when you are wearing a metal ring. Silicon rings are non-conductive so you can wear your ring and not have to worry about electrocution.
‍Nurses/doctors/Health Care professionals: Silicon rings are so much easier when it comes to putting on medial rubber gloves, they will not rip gloves. Silicon rings are also easy to clean. This means you no longer have to dig into every nook and cranny trying to scrub off germs.
‍Military: Wearing a traditional metal ring can be extremely dangerous for those in the military. Those rings can easily get caught on something and cause severe damage to the figure.
‍Mechanics, Construction Workers, etc.: If you are in a line of work that called for extensive use of your hands, a metal ring might not be the best option. Not only do you risk scratching, dented, and getting grease and chemicals on it but there are safety issues to consider. In jobs like these, your fingers and hand are at an increased risk for injury. If you injure your finger/hand and it starts to swell, you might end up with serious injuries and could potentially even lose the finger. Silicon rings are a safer alternative. While they are flexible and durable, they will break if enough force is applied so your figure will be safe from damage.
‍Arthritis, Diabetes, etc: People suffering from swelling can now wear rings knowing that they will be able to remove it if necessary easily.
‍Pregnancy: If you are pregnant, swelling of the hand and feet is a common symptom. Now you can wear a silicon ring and not have to worry about not being able to take it off. Silicon rings are stretchy and inexpensive. You can also get a larger size if you feel like that would be more comfortable while you are pregnant!
‍Grove Life Company Origins I love the story of how Groove Life started as a company. The founder, Peter Goodwin, was inspired by his active and adventurous lifestyle to create a wedding band that could keep up with adventures. After months of perfecting the design for quality and a functional ring he started Groove Life in 2015 and since then it has grown and blossomed into an industry leader in silicon ring manufacturing.Comfort is one of the biggest reasons people are choosing to wear silicon rings. If you are weight lifting or using tools that require a hard grip, metal rings can get scratched but they can also pinch your skin due to the force of your grip. Silicon rings can also fit better. If you have larger knuckles, you have to have a ring size that can go over your knuckles but than is lose when it settles down on the base of your finger.

My metal ring was loose at the base of my finger and would rotate frequently and get in the way as I worked with my hands. Now I don't even notice it's there.
Features
First thing I want to point out is that not all silicon rings are the same. If you are looking for a silicon ring, you will want something of high quality, durability, and comfort. These are some of the features you can expect to get from Groove Rings:
‍Breathable: Groove Ring is unique with it’s “breathable” design. It has “air ports” inside the band to allow air to flow through and moisture to escape. Essentially allowing it to breathe. This prevents the ring from smelling bad.
‍Comfortable Fit: The grooves on the inside of the band lessens the amount of contact the ring will have with your skin and increases airflow. This makes the silicon ring flexible and very comfortable to wear.
‍Liquid Injected: Groove Life Rings are the first to be made with a “liquid injected” method. This process gives Groove rings a seamless, sleek look with a flawless finish.
‍Eased Edges: The edges of Groove rings are not sharp or abrupt. If you have ever had your ring pinch your skin when you are picking up something heavy, then you know the pain! Groove rings have a smooth edge that will not snag on things or pinch your finger.
‍High-Quality Silicon: Groove rings are non-porous, non-conductive, hypoallergenic and resistant to heat. They are also resistant to most chemicals including household cleaning products.
‍Life-Time Warranty: Groove Rings are very durable, and they give a lifetime warranty to their customers. If it were to break, tear, or get lost, they have you covered!
Design: Fashion vs. Function?
Groove Life rings are functional, but they are also fashionable? There are two bandwidths: Original and Thin Band. The Original is wider and defined for men. Thin bands are defined for women.
‍
While men turn towards silicon rings more for the functionality rather than style, Groove life silicon rings have fashionable designs for both men and women.
Silicon rings for women
Groove life has tons of designs to choose from, and the best part is you can get more than one ring and match them with your clothes or activity.
‍Simple or Bold: You can choose from bright colors and wild designs to something simple with just a subtle touch of femininity.
‍Customizable: You can make your ring your own by customizing it with an engraving
‍Air Collection: The women’s Groove Air collection is really excellent. They feature 3 thin stackable rings. I feel like those are very stylish and low-key. Since you have 3 separate bands, you can change the order you wear them, and they are even more breathable than the original thin band.
‍Match your personality and style: I have never really been a jewelry girl, in fact, I avoid wearing shiny jewelry, it’s just not my style or personality. But I have to admit that I have a lot of fun choosing rings with different designs and they are always introducing new design collections.
‍Colors/Patterns: You can have fun too with the crazy variety of colors, designs, and styles. My love the Aprie collection,  with the bold colors.  It’s my "everyday" ring. I have a Pearl ring that is more “low key” so if I have something going on in a more professional setting I can quickly swap them out.So when it comes to Groove rings, I feel like its not Fashion vs. Function, instead, you get Function AND Fashion!
Sizing: How to get the right size?
Getting the right size was a straightforward process. We already had wedding rings, but we couldn’t remember our size (it’s been a long time since we got our measurements!) Groove life makes it super easy to find your ring size, and there are a couple different ways to do this, and they make it fun to do!
‍Option 1: Take online quiz (best choice if you currently do not have any rings, and you do not know your size.
‍Option 2: Download and use the smartphone app. This is if you have a ring and you are not sure what size it is or if you want to double check. This is what I used, and it took less than a couple of minutes.
‍Option 3: Print sizer (printer required)NOTE: Currently Groove Life does not have options for Half-sizes.
Pros & Cons of Silicon Rings
Pros
‍Flexibility: If you have larger knuckles you would have to buy a bigger ring to be able to fit on your finger. The problems are after you slide it over your knuckle, your finger slims down, and you end up with a loose fit. I have this problem with my engagement ring. Once I get my engagement ring over my knuckles, the diamond slides around my hand because of the loose fit. It is incredibly annoying.
‍Safer for Avoiding Injury: Ring avulsion happens when your ring gets caught on something with a lot of force, causing the ring to be ripped off your finger, often taking skin/muscle with it. This is probably one of the biggest benefits of silicon rings. If you were to fall and get your ring caught on something along the way down, the source of the fall would tear the silicon ring without damaging your finger.
‍Preserves your wedding band: If you have an expensive wedding/engagement ring, a silicon ring is an excellent alternative to saving your ring from scratches, dings, and dents. If you required to often remove your precious metal ring for safety purposes, you risk losing it or having it stolen. A silicon ring is durable and not a target for muggers.
‍Affordable: Silicon rings are a definite money saver. If that is one of the reasons you find silicon rings appealing, do not go for the cheapest brand. Even though there might be more affordable alternatives, a high-quality brand like Groove life at $29.95 is a bargain. Especially with the Lifetime Warranty, they offer.
Cons
‍Informal: While silicon rings offer many colors and stylish designs, they are considered very informal when compare to their precious metal counterparts. While this may be the case, silicon rings are far more practical for day to day life. If you have a traditional wedding/engagement ring, I would wear it to formal events and/or special occasions, but for day to day wear, my husband and I both prefer our Groove Life rings.
‍Lack of Sentimality: A silicon ring it's not something that you will be passing on to your children. The gold wedding bands my husband and I gave to each other on our wedding day hold a lot of sentimental value and family history since my ring was passed down the family. This is a reason why I like my Groove ring, it helps me preserve my wedding ring so that I will get to pass it on one day.

Reviews and Testimonials
Based on the many different Groove life reviews I read online and the experiences people shared, the general consensus is that Groove life rings are totally awesome. People are happy with the quality and performance of their product, and the company and customer service. Here are a few highlights from the reviews online. People are happy with:
- Design and style options
- Customer service
- Easy exchange process
- Very comfortable
- Not loose at the bottom of your finger
- Lots of options for women
- Flexible enough to be comfortable but also snug enough to feel secure
‍My Experience with Groove Life Rings:I have been wearing my Groove ring for a few weeks, and I have loved every minute of it! I enjoy how comfortable it is and the flexibility. It is very breathable, so it doesn’t trap moistures underneath when I sweat. I would rate the comfort level a 10/10. I have yet to do an activity and find the ring uncomfortable. There are a few silly things that I was excited about when wearing my Groove ring:
‍Wearing Gloves! I can wear gloves comfortably again! Nothing would irk me more than trying to put on gloves in the winter, and the diamond that sticks out on my ring would continuously get caught in the fabric.
‍Easy Household Cleaning! I don’t have to struggle to take off my ring, and I can quickly put on rubber gloves without getting my ring caught on the thin rubber and tearing a hole in it.
‍Sharks! I’ve heard that shakes can be attacked on shiny objects the water. I know the actually probably of a shake attach is incredibly slim but however slim that probability may be, its always floating around in the back of my mind when I am in the water.
‍Getting Dressed! I can’t be the only one that has had their engagement ring get caught on clothing when I am in a hurry to get dressed! It’s incredibly annoying because I'm generally in a hurry to start with so that painful setback it’s helpful. It’s not something that you would typically think of as being an issue, but it’s the little things in life that can make the day a bit better. This is the first Silicon ring that I have tried so I can’t say if it’s better or worst than some of the competitors. However, I can say that I have no complaints and I can’t think of any way they could improve their rings.Overall, Groove life has set the bar really high, and I can tell you that based on some of the issues people have reported with other silicon ring brands (smelly, skin irritation, discoloring), I think it's safe to say you can be confident that Groove rings are high quality and will not disappoint.
