Getting a top notch beach body isn't just a top priority among women in their 20s, everyone wants to look better the more clothes they take off. However it seems that most of the bikini body programs out there only cater to young women, this makes many older ladies feel left out. Lets cover this once and for all...

Bikini Body Programs for Women Over 40

There is a large difference between your mid 20s and your early 40s, usually life has happened. This may mean a full time career, a kid or two (or more?) and a lot less time for you.Because life happens and we get busy with more and more responsibilities sometimes we might let our bodies slip a bit. If you are ready to change that then there is tremendous news! There is no age limit to getting healthier and looking better than ever. Women who are over forty can certainly use the same bikini body guides that young people seem to get such fantastic results from.In order to figure out how to make these guides work their magic on us, we need to figure out what changes in the body around our 40s and how to combat it.

Why It Is Harder to Stay in Shape as You Age

As we age our bodies slowly stop producing certain hormones and chemicals that keeps our youth and ability to turn food into energy; while at the same time making it easier to store fat in worse places. Two hormones in particular cause major issues for losing weight.

  1. The Reduction of Human Growth Hormone (HGH) Human Growth Hormone has been thought of to be a leading cause of aging, without it bones weaken, we can't get the energy from our food as well and cell reproduction slows to a crawl.

By lowering the energy we get from our food the result is we get more lethargic. So by not wanting or having the urge to exercise that is less calories out - however the more lethargic we become the more we take to eating high calorie comfort foods. Not so fun Fact: If you eat one cookie a day (~100Kcal) then you will gain about 10 pounds per year, so for every 100 calories you eat in excess of what you burn fat still start growing consistently but slowly over time. This lies the major problem into how it creeps up on us.It's like going broke, slowly at first then all at once.2. Estrogen Production Lowers - This causes our body to store fat around our mid sections which is exactly the wrong place for itBecause of these physiological reasons it's very natural for us to gain weight as we age. No mater how healthy we eat! But it doesn't have to be this way, because we know why we can come up with the how.

How Can These Guides Work For Older Ladies?

There are a few specific reasons as to why it's worth it to invest some money into a workout program - more importantly one that actually works! Both of the guides I linked to above can help but check over my bikini body guide review to see which one fits you best. I'll talk about by favorite one though. Jen's Bikini Body Guide is fast paced which makes your body work. When it comes to working out and burning calories faster tends to be better. It's called High Intensity Interval Training. We used this technique a lot when I ran cross country for my high school, but it really helped us get better physically faster than anything else. High Intensity Training causes you to burn more calories in a shorter period of time but also drastically helps your cardiovascular system. The kicker with this type of workout plan though is the increased calorie burn lingers for a while after you end the workout. The workout also keeps your heart rate elevated which helps to build up your endurance and increase your muscle strength and definition. All of that is what you will want when you decide to wear your newest bikini! The best part about the workout guide is it comes with follow along videos which is incredibly important to help you stay on track and not get board. If you can find a way to do this for 20 minutes a few days a week you too can have the beach body your 20 something self only dreamed of.
