Best Cardio Workouts for Fat Burn


If you are going to spend your time on cardio, it would probably be helpful to know which cardio workouts will be the most effective at burning fat. Here is a list with the top 10 cardio workouts that will give you the most our of your workout

10. Running​

Running is probably the first workout that comes to mind when you think of cardio. It's a great workout! While you can burn calories running at a steady pace, you could be burning even more if you mixed things up. If you are running on a treadmill consider turning the workout into a interval workout. Run at a faster pace for 30 seconds and jog for 60. Keep repeating this and you will get a great HIIT workout that will leave you burning calories even after your workout is complete.

You can also set the treadmill to give you a incline. This will better stimulate an outdoor run. Some treadmills have setting that will let you program the treadmill to automatically vary the incline as you run.

If you are running outside, change up your normal route to give you more hills. Running with a partner of group can also make the run more interesting and help you run at a faster pace. ​

9. Elliptical

I love the elliptical. I lower how it is a low impact workout but it can still burn fat and get the heart pumping. Switching up the speed, resistance and intensity will give you a over all solid workout. To get the most our of your elliptical workout, consider turning it into a HIIT workout. Adding a higher incline or resistance will really activate your leg muscles​

8. Stairs

You can get a stair workout by using the stair climber or by actually climbing a set of stairs. The best way to get the most out of your stair workout is to turn it into a HIIT workout by giving it 90% of your effort for 30 seconds and then giving yourself a minute or two for recovery. You can also carry weights or kettlebells with you for added weight.

6. Kettlebells

Kettlebell workouts are worth mentioning because they are awesome at combining both cardio and strength training into one workout. This cardio workout will help you burn calories and build muscle in the process.  Do your reps in 30 second intervals, you should be exerting a strong effort if you are using the correct weight.

5. Cycling

Almost every gym is going to have a stationary bike. I always recommend that you get a bike and go outside if possible so get you some fresh air but gym bikes are also a good workout. Like with any other cardio workout, to get the most out of it you should be doing intervals. Go at a high intensity for a couple minutes and slow down for the next minute, then repeat!

4. Swimming

If you are lucky enough to have a pool at your gym or have access to a pool in general than you should be taking advantage of the amazing workout you can get. The great thing about swimming is that it is a total body workout. You are using pretty much all your muscles to stay afloat and moving forward. Even just treading water is a good workout. Make is a goal to see how long you can go without touching the side or the bottom. Swim a couple laps and rest by treading water, then swim a couple more!

3. Jumping Rope

Jumping rope is a easy and inexpensive way to get exercise. The best part is that it burns major calories! You can burn as much as 500 calories in just 30 minutes of jumping rope. Do this in intervals of fast jumping and slow jumping and see how long you can keep this up.  

2. Sprints

Sprinting is a intense form of running. You can sprint on the treadmill, outside or up a flight of stairs. This is a great way to burn the most calories in the least amount of time. You can do sprints anywhere and they will really get your heart going! ​

Basically all the cardio workouts that I covered I mentioned how the best way to get the most out of them it to turn it into a HIIT workout. HIIT will help you burn the most fat and burn calories for up to 24 hours after your workout! You can turn any cardio or resistance training workout into a HIIT workout.
