Exercising is great for our minds and body, but sometimes we can overdo it. This can cause pain and discomfort as our body recovers. But what can we do to help our bodies recover? Here are our top tips to help.

Ice baths

Having an ice bath has many different names, including cold immersion therapy and ice therapy.

Having an ice bath can help to reduce inflammation and stop the blood vessels from dilating.

When you get out of the water, they dilate again.

This act of being in cold water has been shown to help manage muscle pain and delay it.

Many sports centers are offering these alongside their spa and sauna facilities so ask your local fitness instructor if this is something that they provide in their gym. You can also have an ice bath system at your home.

CBD

Suppose there is one thing that has become a favorite in the sports community. In that case, it is oils and tablets from companies such as CBDistillery.

CBD oil has shown that it has many different uses, especially when it comes to injuries.

As well as reducing inflammation, it helps to control any pain that you are feeling.

As the years have gone on, the benefits of using CBD after exercise are becoming more apparent.

Hydration

After you have exercised, you need to make sure that your body is rehydrated.

During your workout, you might have lost a lot of essential salts and minerals through your sweat. These need to be replaced.

Otherwise, you can end up in pain and feeling ill.

Drinking sports drinks with electrolytes or mineral water filled with minerals are two of the best things that you can put in your body after exercise.

Try to avoid caffeine as it can dehydrate you.

Healthy food

Within 45 minutes of finishing your workout, you should get some food in your belly, preferably something healthy.

Your body will be burning through the sugars and fats in your body. If your workout has been intense, you may feel weak after a while.

Make sure you have healthy snacks such as carrot sticks to nibble on even if you don’t feel like eating.

Massage

Another thing that people don’t think about after exercise is getting a massage. Your muscles have worked hard and need some TLC.

Getting a sports massage is not everyone’s cup of tea, and many people find it very painful.

However, getting a massage is a great way to work out any knots that may have formed in your muscles and give relief that you didn’t know you needed.

Sleep

If there is one thing that people don’t get enough of, it’s sleep.

After exercising, you might feel the adrenaline pumping, but you will need to sleep to help your body recover.

Not only is sleep good for your body, but it also is good for your mind too so don’t try and skimp on getting enough shut-eye.

Make sure that sleep becomes part of your workout and recovery plan.
